A day in a life of ....
Today is the first full day of camp!!! Started with a workout. It was the American’s team responsibility and our boys, according to the Ukrainians, failed miserably. The US team was fired today from running the morning workout and the Ukrainians are taking over tomorrow to show us how to do it.
Breakfast at 9 am. Followed by worship at 10 am and then parents and children separated into separate groups. It was amazing to see how easily all of the children left their parents and went to be with their buddies!!! What a blessing to see the children go with our team volunteers. But, most importantly, what a blessing to see parents trust us with their children.
Pastor Dave lead a bible study with the parents. The theme for this year’s camp is: We Are Family!!!
Dr. D and the music group did a wonderful job leading us in worship.
After lunch, parents decided to go to the lake to swim. The lake is only a few minutes walk through the forest. This area of Ukraine is beautiful. Clean, clear water. Nature is simply gorgeous. It was relatively warm, but we loved the clear skies.
The lake was not necessarily part of our plan for the day. We had the whole program planned, but the Lord reminded us to be flexible. We loved our time with the families. As Christians we need to remember to meet people where they are and to spend time with them. Jesus did not simply direct the events from heaven, He chose to come down to earth and to live with us, to do life with us. Often in ministry we see mission groups come and go, but so many don’t slow down to just simply BE with the families and people they come to serve.
In the evening we played a game with the entire camp. The Ukrainian team led us in an amazing Race Around The World. Great time just laughing and being together as one family.
